Honoring leadership: Chelsea Hirn, CBA, named GSCFM Student Leader
Business-to-business (B2B) credit management is a field where professionals often learn on the job, and most credit specialists have an unconventional path into the industry. To bridge knowledge gaps, many join trade associations, seek mentorship or gain experience through hands-on work. For ambitious credit professionals, pursuing certifications and educational programs further deepens their understanding and strengthens the skills necessary to navigate B2B credit effectively.
The National Association of Credit Management (NACM) proudly recognizes credit leaders who not only continue their education but have a positive impact on the industry. Today, we congratulate Chelsea Hirn, CBA, recipient of the GSCFM Student Leader Award from NACM’s National Honors and Awards Program, presented by the graduating class of the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management.
This peer-selected award honors an individual who has made a significant contribution to the overall quality of the program through active class participation and meaningful enhancement of the educational experience. “I was both honored and humbled upon receiving this award,” said Hirn. “To know that I’ve had such an impact on my peers, especially when other students contributed to the program just as much, if not more, made it all the more rewarding.”
The graduate program covers four key components of credit management: advanced financial statement analysis, legal environment of credit, advanced negotiations and leadership. Originally, Hirn entered NACM’s grad school to continue her education and help her obtain the Certified Credit Executive (CCE) certification. But what the program helped her most was improving key leadership skills and developing a more comprehensive way to review financials.
Hirn’s success, however, could not have been possible without the support of her long-time mentor. “From talking about GSCFM to having study sessions, she’s just been such an advocate for me throughout that process.”
Through the program, Hirn not only gained essential knowledge and competencies, but also formed meaningful professional connections. “I learned so much from my classmates, who were rockstars in their own right,” said Hirn. “I look forward to growing alongside them and other like-minded people as I continue my educational journey.”
