Member Spotlight: Leaving a Legacy for Future Credit Managers
Leaving a legacy is about more than just the work accomplished—it’s about the values instilled, the relationships forged and the positive changes implemented. A legacy is a testament to a well-lived career and a blueprint for future success and inspiration. Join us in celebrating David Watson, CCE, a long-standing NACM member who retired this year after 12 dedicated years as a collector with NACM Southwest.
Watson became a member of the National Association of Credit Management (NACM) about 41 years ago. Before becoming collector at NACM Southwest, he was Vice President at Olmsted-Kirk Paper Company for 42 years. Since then, he’s served as Board Member and as Chairman for NACM Southwest as well as National Board Member and National Chairman for NACM.
Watson’s dedication and involvement with NACM National and NACM Southwest helped him succeed in his career and make his mark in the credit industry. “I learned a lot during my service on the National Board and I gained management experience that I was able to apply in my own job,” he said.
During his NACM membership, Watson attended every Credit Congress & Expo since 1982, with the exception of 1983. “NACM gave me the opportunity to be better at my job and to build relationships all across the country over the years,” he said. “Attending NACM Southwest fall conferences each year helped me learn how to evaluate credit, work with bankrupt customers and handle bankruptcy. I also learned how to work with people and how to manage my job.”
Watson’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his legacy of dedication and excellence will continue to inspire us. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his years of service and wish him all the best in his next chapter!
