Member Spotlight: Leading by example

Andreia Magarinhos, CCE, senior regional credit manager at Ferguson Enterprises LLC (Chantilly, VA), said that earning her Certified Credit Executive (CCE) was an important goal in her professional growth. “It has always been important to me that I lead by example, and I often speak to my team and peers on the importance of continuous self-development.”

B2B credit professionals are more than just financial risk mitigators—they are leaders. They are the ones you can count on in moments of financial distress and uncertainty. But to become a stronger and more efficient leader, they must be willing to learn. By earning a designation from NACM’s six-level Professional Certification Program, credit professionals can expand their credit knowledge and skill set to become outstanding leaders in their field.

No matter what stage you are at in your career, there is always something new to discover. Even with her 18 years in credit, Magarinhos encountered new concepts in the CCE course. “I learned about international trade credit, something that I was not as familiar with before,” she said.

As a mother, Magarinhos continues to lead by example not only at work but in her personal life as well. “I always remind my teenage daughter about the value of investing and believing in yourself and I am proud that I continue to show her and demonstrate these values in my own life,” she said. “There’s a quote by John Assaraf that I live by that can apply to all aspects of your life which is, ‘A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.’”

💡Study Tip: Take NACM’s three-part CCE Exam Review course. “I took extensive, detailed notes for each section I took to ensure I reviewed topics that I was not as familiar with.”
