Celebrating Credit Distinction This Holiday Season

The CBF is one of six designations that comprise NACM and FCIB’s Professional Certification Program, signaling advanced competence in business and credit law. For Gorman, this certification wasn’t just an educational opportunity—it was a way to distinguish himself among his peers.

Between wrapping gifts, checking lists twice and making those final grocery runs, the holiday season is in full swing—making this a perfect moment to celebrate a professional milestone. Please join us in congratulating Josh Gorman, CBF, contracts manager at EFCO Corp. (Des Moines, IA), on earning the Credit Business Fellow (CBF) designation, an accomplishment that reflects dedication, expertise and a commitment to excellence in the credit profession.

The CBF is one of six designations that comprise NACM and FCIB’s Professional Certification Program, signaling advanced competence in business and credit law. For Gorman, this certification wasn’t just an educational opportunity—it was a way to distinguish himself among his peers. “I believe the first thing credentials do is give credibility, showing that you have the knowledge and experience in that subject matter,” said Gorman. “It’s also about using that knowledge to make more informed decisions.”

As a member of NACM Heartland for the past few years, Gorman quickly recognized the importance of continued professional development within his field. Having previously earned his Credit Business Associate (CBA) designation, pursuing the CBF was the natural next step. “For anyone contemplating earning a certification, understand it is a bit of hard work, but it is an experience that will help you grow your knowledge and advance your organization,” said Gorman.

🤖 Study Tips: Sometimes you just need that extra help. Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven to be a useful study tool for credit professionals, so long as its outputs are fact-checked. “I have been reluctant to use AI, but I began leveraging it to study for my certifications,” said Gorman. “I’m now using AI for almost everything. Anyone not using AI as a supplemental tool is behind the curve.”
