Bringing dreams to fruition through learning
As we approach the end of January, we’re transitioning from a season of reflection into one of intention. Members across regions and around the world are beginning to put their professional aspirations and goals into action—laying the groundwork for a successful and meaningful future.
Maickon Nunes Santana, CICP, regional director credit and collections at CMA CGM America LLC (Miami, FL), welcomed in the new year with renewed optimism after having earn his Certified International Credit Professional (CICP) designation the previous year, which strengthened his knowledge on global credit management and risk analysis.
“My CICP certification has added a lot of value to my role, increasing major credit competencies such as determining which metrics to evaluate in a portfolio, which credit strategies to apply and how to analyze financials,” said Nunes Santana. “Since then, I’ve had the chance to present new ideas to senior management that I learned in FCIB’s International Credit & Risk Management Online Course (ICRM) and they suggested other regions to do the course as well.”
Nunes Santana discovered NACM and FCIB’s six-level Professional Certification Program after noticing some colleagues sporting the certification. In conversation with them, he quickly realized the value in the program’s content, learning experience and connections. “Though it was challenging to adjust to an online learning format, I learned immensely and found that there’s always something new to learn, or to view from a different perspective, and the ICRM course reflected that,” said Nunes Santana.
Study tips: Organize your schedule for optimum study time. “I dedicated six hours a week for reading and taking notes,” said Nunes Santana. “If I ever missed a study session, I spent a portion of my weekend trying to catch up. Also, I suggest having two or three live classes while following the course modules to engage more with peers.”
