Strategize Success with the CCE Designation

For credit professionals ready to transition from tactical execution to strategic leadership, the Certified Credit Executive (CCE) earned through NACM and FCIB’s six-level Professional Certification Program provides the knowledge, credibility and network needed to make that transition.

In credit management, success isn’t just about collecting payments—it’s about strategic thinking, leadership development and positioning yourself as a trusted business advisor. For credit professionals ready to transition from tactical execution to strategic leadership, the Certified Credit Executive (CCE) earned through NACM and FCIB’s six-level Professional Certification Program provides the knowledge, credibility and network needed to make that transition.

Upon earning his CCE, Wade Rynning, CCE, credit manager at Ryerson Inc. (Coon Rapids, MN), reached the highest level of credit expertise, combining education, credit experience and involvement in professional development. “Essentially, it builds previously acquired knowledge and expertise to transition into a more managerial role,” said Rynning.

Pursuing the CCE expanded Rynning’s capabilities beyond credit fundamentals. “I learned more about what it means to be a leader and how to apply it at work and in my personal life,” said Rynning. “The idea of servant leadership, putting others’ needs before your own, deeply resonated with me. I aspire to be an example for my team and help them move forward in their careers.”

Rynning credits NACM’s Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management (GSCFM) for helping him prepare for and pass the final exam. “The best part about this program is connecting with credit professionals with similar aspirations, which makes it all the more enriching,” said Rynning. “Any chance you have to talk or study together, take it. You’ll quickly find yourself exchanging ideas and learning something new.”

📝Study tips: When in doubt, go back to the basics. NACM’s Business Credit Principles remains a prominent resource for students, covering core credit concepts. “I read the book from front to back to deepen my understanding,” said Rynning. “Careful, deliberate reading and reviewing of flashcards were crucial for information retention.”
