A recent arrest tied to a significant fraud ring highlights the powerful results that can be achieved through advanced risk management, real-time intelligence and coordinated teamwork. On Friday, March 20, law enforcement apprehended suspects in Forest Hill, Maryland, marking a major milestone in an investigation that directly impacted NACM-member businesses.

This successful outcome was driven in part by United TranzActions’ (UTA) proprietary risk-management logic algorithms and filters, which flagged suspicious activity early and helped identify patterns consistent with organized fraud. These tools, combined with the expertise of smart, proactive analysts, enabled rapid escalation and direct outreach to impacted and potentially impacted NACM businesses—often before losses could escalate further.

Arrest details:

Two male suspects were taken into custody, while a female accomplice has been charged with conspiracy. The suspects were operating in a stolen white Jeep Wagoneer, rented from Enterprise and displaying a stolen license plate from a similar vehicle. During the arrest, law enforcement recovered additional stolen identification documents and license plates, reinforcing the scope and sophistication of the fraud operation.

UTA analysts worked closely with affected businesses, providing timely alerts, transaction insights and documentation support. This proactive engagement allowed members to take immediate action, preserve evidence and coordinate efficiently with authorities.

This case underscores a critical message: when advanced technology, expert analysis and strong industry collaboration come together, fraudsters lose their advantage. UTA stands ready to protect your business.
