Outstanding leaders provide guidance, motivation and direction, acting as the bedrock of organizational advancement and expansion.

NACM strives to find emerging credit leaders capable of reshaping and advancing their organizations and the credit industry as a whole. Brian Wallace, director of corporate credit at N.B. Handy Company (Lynchburg, VA), is a prime example of an emerging leader as this year’s co-recipient of NACM’s Emerging Leader Award, which recognizes budding leaders who share their vision, inspiring others with their force of purpose and astounding insights. “I’m deeply honored and grateful for the acknowledgement,” he said. “This recognition is a testament to the support and collaboration of my team and colleagues. They have been instrumental in the collective success that we’ve had.”

In his career, Wallace learned that passion is fundamental in leadership. He demonstrates this passion through his ongoing credit growth and education as well as his hands-on, collaborative approach to leadership. “I make sure I do the same things that my team is doing, and I wouldn’t ask them to do anything that I don’t or wouldn’t do.”

Wallace considers his integrity as the most valuable leadership trait. He said being positive, fair and honest will get you most anywhere you want to be. “As a leader, I view nothing as impossible and value the priority of family.” Wallace said. “I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my friends, family and my wife.”

Looking to the future, Wallace is excited about working on new, innovative ideas and creating a positive impact within his organization and beyond. “I hope this recognition inspires others to pursue their leadership potential as I feel everybody has greatness in them and we all have something great that we can achieve.”
