Certifications are the key to success
Whether you’re new to the profession or changing careers, education is vital for success in credit management. With NACM’s six-level Professional Certification Program, credit professionals of all levels can broaden their knowledge and sharpen their skill set to progress in the B2B credit field.
Coming from a banking background, Bryan Marez, CBA, senior credit specialist at DXP Enterprises, Inc. (Houston, TX), earned his Credit Business Associate (CBA) to gain a better understanding and learn best practices of B2B credit management. “I learned more about financial analysis and how integral credit professionals are in business,” he said. “I also learned how to collaborate with sales to provide great customer service and improve workflow.”
Throughout the course, Marez enhanced his problem-solving skills and took a more proactive approach to professional development. “Having a CBA certification gives me the confidence I need to handle difficult situations that arise,” he said. “Many times, I think back to the topics covered in the classes. It’s made me more confident in my decision making.”
For Marez, the CBA reflects his commitment to the field. With it, he can provide high quality service to customers and contribute to his organization’s success.
💡Study tips: Be consistent and set aside time to study every day. Take classes with someone or take one of the in-person classes to work closer with other students. “I went through the process alone, and many times I thought it would have been much better with a study partner,” Marez said. “Thankfully, I work with NACM members who are great mentors and were very helpful during the certification journey.”
Marez said attending Credit Congress for the first time opened a new world of possibilities for him. “Meeting people in the NACM community and learning from them ignited a desire within to become a part of this community.”
