Member Spotlight: Conquer challenges with certifications

“I want to show that I am dedicated to my job and that I have plans to continue developing and growing as a professional in the credit industry,” said Cristal Gonzalez, CBF, credit analyst at Mueller, Inc. (Ballinger, TX).

In B2B credit, credit professionals must be prepared for the unexpected. Unforeseen challenges, like bankruptcy or natural disasters, can present significant hurdles. By pursuing designations through NACM’s six-level Professional Certification Program, credit professionals can build the skills needed to navigate these situations with confidence.

After earning her CBA designation in 2012, Cristal Gonzalez, CBF, credit analyst at Mueller, Inc. (Ballinger, TX), knew that she wanted to continue her education in the credit field. “I want to show that I am dedicated to my job and that I have plans to continue developing and growing as a professional in the credit industry,” she said. Gonzalez just earned her Credit Business Fellow (CBF) designation, which recognizes advanced expertise and significant contributions in business credit, including proficiency in business and credit law.

Despite unexpected life events during the course, Gonzalez persevered. Her study partner helped her to better understand and retain the course material. “I focused and absorbed as much information as I could, especially when it came to business and credit law,” she said.

Gonzalez learned that there are many aspects of credit management and much to learn to be successful in the field. “I learned that if I put the time and dedication in, I can achieve any goal I set my mind to,” she said. “Having this designation under my belt will open doors for me in the future, which I’m looking forward to. I’m grateful for NACM for offering opportunities to advance our education.”

💡Study Tips: Get a study partner or group to help you retain the information. “Start by reviewing and studying about a month or so before the final exam,” Gonzalez said. “Every time I felt overwhelmed, a classmate of mine told me to take a break and we’d regroup at a different time.”
