Jeff Weber, CICP, director of credit at Uline (Pleasant Prairie, WI), recently earned his Certified International Credit Professional (CICP) designation to keep up with his company’s growing international presence. “I pursued this because understanding international operations would enable me to make informed recommendations to executive management.”

In the B2B credit world, credit professionals must stay progressive. This means keeping up with the latest trends and technologies, as well as pursuing relevant certifications. By earning designations through the NACM’s Professional Certification Program, credit professionals can enhance their knowledge and skills, paving the way for professional success.

This achievement was rewarding for Weber, especially after considering the designation for some time. “I’d been waiting for the right moment to complete the course based on business initiatives,” Weber said. “Being able to reference the resources provided and knowledge gained has been impactful for me and the company.”

Course topics covered included considerations for entering new markets, risk mitigation tools, banking and currency implications, payment instruments and performance benchmarking. “While not all of this was new to me, engaging with the coursework and hearing from other professionals around the world introduced me to new ideas and perspectives,” he said.

💡 Study Tips: Be open during discussion posts. Even if you don’t have specific examples from your own experiences, acknowledging that and working through practice scenarios can still be valuable. “Commenting on and questioning how classmates approached various situations can be very eye-opening,” said Weber.

Build a study schedule. “If you block out time on your calendar for this coursework, you can still prioritize other tasks as needed.”
