Member Spotlight: Conquer challenges, gain confidence 

Earning a designation can be a transformative journey—filled with both challenges and triumphs. Not all credit professionals start out as in credit, so acquiring the right skills is necessary to thrive in the industry. NACM’s Professional Certification Program gives credit professionals rigorous courses of credit education. Whether you’re just coming into the industry or are a long-standing vet, knowledge is an asset. 

Earning the Credit Business Associate (CBA) was a worthwhile investment and confidence booster for Mallory Bell, CBA, accounts receivable specialist at Leslie Enterprises, Inc. dba Dupree Building Specialties (Spokane, WA). “As I gained more knowledge about accounting and financial analysis, I gained more confidence in my work and felt that I could take on tasks that I wasn’t comfortable taking on prior to taking the CBA classes,” Bell said. 

Despite being a student, mother and full-time worker, Bell’s persistence led her to the finish line. Dedication of both her time and efforts made Bell’s journey much smoother by being prepared. “I always prioritized my time, making sure to include study sessions and complete the homework,” she said. “It feels so amazing to have earned my CBA designation and it has given me motivation to keep going! I am interested in continuing to complete my Credit Business Fellow (CBF) certification as well.” 

💡Study Tips: Make sure to save all your study guides and test answers from each course you take. “Revisiting these materials when you are preparing to take the CBA certification exam is key,” Bell said. “Being able to refer to my old tests and answers played a huge role in studying for my exam with national.”
