Member Spotlight: Shoot for the Stars

Abby Haymore, CBF, assistant credit manager at Sunroc Corporation (Orem, UT), recently earned her Certified Business Fellow (CBF) as a means to challenge and improve herself professionally. "I realized that I can do hard things!" she said. "The CBF wasn't easy, but I learned about the laws of what happens when an account is in collections or how bankruptcies work in detail, which was very helpful."

Haymore was inspired by her mother, who had entered her first credit position a few years ago. "She had an amazing mentor that showed her the ropes," she said. "It was when I was helping her with her accounting class that I realized that I loved numbers and money. I was going back and forth on whether to do credit or accounting and decided to follow in my mom's footsteps and take the steps to get my designations."

"If you are interested in starting classes, but don't know where to start, reach out to your local NACM branch and they will help you get started," Haymore said. "If I can do it, you can do it! You have to shoot for the stars in life and if you never start, you never know where you could end up."

💡Study Tips: Prioritize your time. "I suggest taking one or two nights a week, or one day a weekend to study the materials and make sure you understand everything you have learned," Haymore said. "If you have questions, anybody at NACM or even in your class would be happy to help you!"
