Member Spotlight: Education is Limitless

R.-Hartley

Credit professionals must consistently learn to advance their careers, whether through on-the-job training and experience or formal education, supported by their company's assistance. By earning designations through NACM's Professional Certification Program, credit professionals can learn and enhance their skillset in various aspects of B2B credit.

Rebekah Hartley, CCE, CCRA, assistant credit manager at Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC (Collierville, TN), recently earned her Certified Credit Executive (CCE) designation after continued encouragement from her team. "Before I started this job, I wasn't working in credit, so I wanted to do something to propel me forward other than just on-the-job experience," she said. "I genuinely wanted to do something to help me stand on more solid ground."

In addition to providing an enjoyable educational environment, the CCE and the CCRA gave Hartley a baseline for analyzing each customer. "I've just seen myself be more confident when I'm going into an analysis and that's been really helpful," she said. Because many people in her company had earned or were working towards the designation, Hartley could study in the office, which helped her succeed.

💡Study Tip: Plan ahead and practice. "Put a timer on your phone and practice to help you think clearly," Hartley said. "Also, translate that into writing or typing as quick as you can for review."
