Professional certification aids career growth and builds professional connections

Whether you’ve been working in the credit field for years, decades or only a matter of months, furthering your education is an invaluable opportunity to deepen your skills and immerse yourself in the field.

Whether you’ve been working in the credit field for years, decades or only a matter of months, furthering your education is an invaluable opportunity to deepen your skills and immerse yourself in the field. For Jackson Wodiuk, CBA, credit specialist at Senergy Petroleum (Gilbert, AZ), earning his Credit Business Associate (CBA) designation through one of NACM and FCIB’s six Professional Certification Programs was an opportunity to learn and build connections within the credit industry.

“I wanted to help validate myself further in the credit and finance world,” Wodiuk said. “The whole experience was very informative, and I learned something new in each class.”

Earning a CBA is a testament not only to what a credit professional learns through certification classes and hours of homework, but to the dedication it takes to further your career in credit management. Like many aspects of a credit professional’s work, it is not always easy, but it will nonetheless instill a sense of pride and satisfaction in those who earn their designation. “It feels great to follow in my mother’s footsteps,” Wodiuk added.

Professional certification classes also allow you to create connections across the credit industry, as you study alongside your peers in your respective designation journeys. “Studying with the class and brainstorming on different situations was fun,” Wodiuk said. “Some of the funniest stories I’ll never forget.”

📝Study Tip: Take your time. It is much easier to study for the exams if you focus on one subject at a time and spread out your study schedule. “You can only eat the elephant one bite at a time,” Wodiuk said.
