Professional certification program provides invaluable knowledge
Earning a designation through NACM and FCIB’s Professional Certification Program reflects a deep dedication to improving and refining the myriad of skills used each day as a credit professional. For Paula Romero, CBA, credit analyst at Autodesk, Inc. (Portland, OR), the journey to earning her Credit Business Associate (CBA) designation was rewarding, albeit challenging.
“I wanted to earn the CBA designation to enhance my knowledge and skills in the credit field, as well as demonstrate my commitment to professional development,” Romero said. “It was also important for me to earn the designation to better serve my organization and clients.”
While the road to the designation was at times fraught, there was always an overflow of support stemming from her fellow professionals and through NACM’s study aids. “The journey was both challenging and rewarding,” Romero said. “Balancing work, life and study was tough, but the structured study materials and support from peers helped me stay on track. My biggest success was passing the exam on my first attempt.”
Through the courses, Romero gained a deeper understanding of credit principles, risk management and financial analysis, which is invaluable to her day-to-day work in credit. “My favorite part of the experience was acquiring new knowledge and applying it in my work, which greatly contributed to my professional growth,” Romero said. “A memorable moment was the sense of relief and joy when I received my passing results.”
📝Study tip: “Start early and create a study schedule that allows for consistent, manageable study sessions,” Romero said. “Break down the material into smaller sections and focus on understanding concepts rather than just memorizing.”
