Certification program emphasizes importance of continued education

Earning a designation through NACM’s Professional Certification Program is more than just an opportunity for continued education and career advancement, but a confidence boost for even the most seasoned credit professionals.

Earning a designation through NACM’s Professional Certification Program is more than just an opportunity for continued education and career advancement, but a confidence boost for even the most seasoned credit professionals.

For Samantha Seegert, credit manager at McNaughton-McKay Electric Company (Maumee, OH), earning her Credit Business Associate (CBA) designation was a great experience that instilled a newfound confidence when it comes to tackling complicated problems in the ever-changing field of credit.

“My journey was easy but challenging,” Seegert said. “For me reading the book and doing the lessons was the easy part, sitting for the final test to get my designation was the challenge. I do not do well under timed pressure and have never done well with timed testing, and I freeze up.”

While the journey felt challenging at times, it emphasized the importance of continued education. “Credit is constantly changing,” Seegert said. “So, I feel that I am learning everyday whether I am in classes for a designation, attending a conference or working with my colleagues on multiple different tasks daily.”

✏️Study tip: “When the certification classes feel challenging, remember you are not going through it alone! Don’t hesitate to lean on your instructors and fellow NACM members during your journey of earning your designation.”
