Member Spotlight: My First Credit Congress

NACM's 127th Credit Congress provided an opportunity for credit professionals to experience educational sessions, networking and fun! Several attendees were present as first-timers this year in Grapevine, TX.

"Credit congress really exceeded my expectations," said Araceli Magana, CBA, credit analyst at Joseph T Ryerson & Son, Inc. (Vernon, CA). "I wasn't sure what to expect since it was my first year attending, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of the sessions and how there were several options to choose from." Magana said she came across a Credit Congress advertisement in Business Credit magazine that showed classes offered. "I saw that as a great opportunity to take some of those classes myself for my personal knowledge," she said. "Collection practices in Mexico was one of my favorite sessions at the convention."

Not only did members get to sit in educational sessions—but they also had the opportunity to meet vendors during Expo hours and even earn designations after passing exams. It was a positive environment overall, Magana added. "Between the expo, sessions and soda breaks in the afternoon, everything was extremely well-organized," Magana said. "The signs and wayfinding were especially helpful as a first-timer."

Magana said she took something new out of each session she attended. "Knowing now what to expect, I can't wait to come back again" Magana said. "Credit Congress provided lots of knowledge with a good time." Be sure to join us for next year's Credit Congress in Las Vegas, NV from June 9-12!
