Member Spotlight: Credit Congress Is the Ultimate Tool

From certifications to networking and information gathering, NACM's Credit Congress remains a valuable resource to the credit industry. Now, merely a month later, many credit professionals are still reaping the benefits.

"My company is an advocate for NACM and encouraged me to attend conferences due to my interest in learning," said Martha Mays, credit analyst at Palmer-Donavin Manufacturing Company (Grove City, OH). Mays was a first-timer at this year's Credit Congress. She said she jumped at the opportunity to register.

"I networked with some wonderful people that assisted us with finding the right ERP system we plan to implement in the next couple of years," Mays said. "With their opinion and advice, we narrowed down our options and I was able to take back what I learned to my accounting department, controller and vice president of finance."

But her favorite part of Credit Congress overall was making connections with others in the credit industry. "I made several friends that I'm still in touch with today and discovered different ways to get more involved with NACM," Mays said. "For example, I wasn't aware of NACM's Thought Leadership Groups or the Credit & Financial Development Division (CFDD), but I was able to get some information on the benefits and how we could join."

Since then, Mays has been preparing to attend next year's Credit Congress in Las Vegas, NV from June 9-12! "I'm also encouraging a couple of other credit analysts from our new company that we acquired that they could benefit a lot from going!"
