Member Spotlight: Credentials Build Confidence

​Credentials earned through NACM's Professional Certification Program are known for building confidence and creating opportunities that credit professionals require to succeed in the industry.

Hiring managers want to know they are hiring the top candidates within the credit profession—and designations can help one candidate stand apart from another. In fact, NACM designation holders are likely to earn a higher income than those without a designation.

"I enjoyed the experience and education that came with completing the courses," said Dusty Lomeland, CBA, regional credit manager at Consolidated Supply Co. (Portland, OR). "I realized how much knowledge I was gaining that many people in credit may not have—and it helped give me the confidence boost I needed."

Lomeland said he enjoyed the Financial Statement Analysis course along with Business Credit Principles required for the CBA designation the most. "I often listened to the lectures during my commute and while working," he said. "I loved being able to go back and listen multiple times as well. Listening while commuting or even exercising was helpful to retaining the information I heard."

The benefits of earning a designation have helped Lomeland gain career opportunities and even piqued his interest to work toward earning other designations. "Though I'm focused on my work at the moment, I am absolutely eager to earn more designations," Lomeland said. "The credibility earned from designations has especially helped my resume and going through courses gave me knowledge beyond my years of working in credit. It's a great opportunity for anyone who wants to grow in their career."
