Member Spotlight: Stay One Step Ahead with a CCE

The credit industry is constantly evolving. Credit professionals can remain on the cutting edge by earning a designation through NACM's Professional Certification Program. Through the various designations, credit professionals are guaranteed to learn more skills and gain knowledge in credit management that will keep them one step ahead.

Harinder Virk, CCP, CCE, director of credit at Sonepar Canada (Vancouver, BC) took the initiative and recently earned his Certified Credit Executive (CCE) designation. "It was a great opportunity for career growth," he said. "It was the next step in my five-year plan. I got my Canadian designation and wanted to earn my American designation, the CCE. By getting both designations, I got promoted to director of credit at my company."

Virk found that accessibility was one of best aspects of taking the course. "I really liked the format of the online platform and the sharing of ideas," he said. "My biggest challenges were time management and connecting with other peers in different time zones. But I tried my best to make team-oriented meetings in preparation for the final exam."

Earning his designation is already providing benefits. "I now have a competitive advantage," Virk said. "I learned that credit is very versatile and that there are a lot of different creative avenues that one can follow. After earning my CCE, I'm aware that I can accomplish dense material in a short timeframe and it's also the biggest reason why I'm growing in my credit career."

One of the other perks Virk enjoyed was being featured in Business Credit magazine as a recent CCE designee and he enjoyed networking with other credit professionals at NACM's 127th Credit Congress & Expo.
